Ryno
Eramus :: Ryno is a personal fitness trainer from Stellenbosch
near Cape Town in South Africa. Ryno began working as a personal
trainer at the Sports Science gym at the Sport Science department
at the University of Stellenbosch in 2003. In 2004 Ryno found
a keen interest in flexibility while searching for methods to
rehabilitate prior sports injuries. That was also the time when
Ryno met lifelong friend and mentor Johan Kotze. Johan is a Stellenbosch
based
yogi that combines two styles of yoga, Asthangha and Hatha. With
the knowledge Ryno gained from Johan Ryno also studied Pilates
under Rene Watson. With the experience Ryno got from Yoga and
Pilates, he created a home training system of calisthenetics that
uses gravity and one's own body weight for that lean and ripped
gymnast and dancer look.
A typical session with Ryno on the mat will start off with joint
rotations to secrese synovial fluid to the ligaments and tendons
to lubricate the joints. To warm up Ryno will have you do some
sun salutations and movements in the body's natural planes to
work up a sweat and get the heart-rate going. Resistance work
against gravity consists of core stability and mobility to inhebit
the stretch reflex. After that it is just a series of strong multi-jointed
poses for dynamic stretching.
In his spare time Ryno enjoys recreational scuba diving, sport
rock-climbing, skydiving, gymnastics and martial arts.
