Strength
Training :: Through strength training, the muscles themselves
get larger, giving you a more sculpted and tighter body, and increasing
your muscular strength. The more muscle you have,
the higher your metabolic rate. The higher your metabolic rate,
the more calories you burn. Muscle itself is highly metabolic: it
requires a lot of calories not just to function, but to exist. Women
especially tend to indulge in long bouts of cardio vascular endurance
exercise in the hope of burning calories and losing fat. But only
a combination of cardio vascular work and strength training will
optimise fat loss. A Younique programme of safe and appropriate
exercise and instruction will give you a healthy and enjoyable way
to change your body shape. We cover the whole of London,
surrounding counties and NOW Brighton!
Endurance
training :: Stamina is important in all
sports, particularly those involving bursts of running (eg, football,
basketball and rugby) or lengthy matches (eg, tennis). In fact there
are few sports that don't involve some level of endurance training
– the term "endurance" is often used interchangeably
with "speed", "strength", "aerobic"
and "anaerobic" – so sport-specific endurance conditioning
should form an integral part of your training. A lack of stamina
not only hampers your physical performance, it can cause you to
make unforced technical
or tactical errors, as tiredness affects your mental alertness and
reaction times. It can be a great confidence booster when your competitors,
or even your team mates, start fading and you still have reserves
to spare!
Toning
and shaping :: A client will often specify
to a Younique fitness trainer whether he or she wants to "tone"
or to "build" muscle. Usually, but not always, women want
to "tone," while men want to "build." Each person
seems to have a pretty good idea of what kind of physique she or
he wants.
Toning
and building muscle, however, are basically the same physiologic
process differing mainly in degree.
In
the context of the body's normal functioning, "muscle tone"
simply means that the muscle fibers are being stimulated by the
central nervous
system. But in common use, the designation "toned" pertains
to the appearance of a musculature that is hard, as opposed to flaccid
, and noticeable, but not overly so. In this respect a toned body
implies a lean body, one low in body fat and showing some muscle
definition and shape. By "building" muscle it is usually
meant, getting as much muscle as possible up to and including the
bodybuilder's look.
A Younique Fitness Trainer will design a programme that specifically
helps you to tone and shape areas of your body that you have been
unhappy with and explain fully the physiology of how and why you
are achieving results.
Flexibility
:: Although often overlooked, flexibility is an
important aspect of fitness and can vary enormously form one person
to another .
Flexibility lowers the risk of injury and back problems; improves
co-ordination, range of movement and posture; and reduces soreness
after exercise. Stretching should form an integral part of warm
up and cool down during a session, and at Younique Fitness we can
recommend and instruct on safe and progressive stretching routines
to enhance your overall feeling of well being.
